Building the Peg Perego Croatia e-commerce platform required a tech stack that could handle the complexities of online retail — from product catalogues and inventory synchronisation to secure payment processing and order fulfilment. We chose PHP with the Symfony framework as the backbone of the application, giving us a battle-tested foundation for building robust web applications. On top of Symfony, we leveraged Sylius, an open-source e-commerce framework that provided out-of-the-box support for product management, cart functionality, checkout flows, and multi-channel selling. Sylius allowed us to move quickly on standard e-commerce features while giving us full control to build custom extensions tailored to Peg Perego's specific business requirements. From custom pricing rules to specialised shipping logic, the platform was designed to fit the client's operations precisely rather than forcing workarounds.
